Our Story

When Otacruise was arranged for the first time in the autumn of 2021, it brought together students from all guilds and associations craving to finally experience the student cruise after having to go a while without any huge mass events. While there have been a range of different traditional student cruises in the past, it is our pleasure to organize one that gathers all the students of Otaniemi. Otacruise is the biggest student cruise in Finland!

Over the years, student cruises have been a part of the student culture and are one of the most anticipated events of the year. Otacruise is all about having a good time with friends and meeting new people while enjoying the wide variety of activities. Although the concept is simple — students board the ship and spend two nights and one day on a cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm and back — our main focus is on the cruise programme and we want to keep evolving, year after year.

Otaniemen Merikerho ry was found to work as the organizing association of Otacruise on behalf of Aalto students. Our aim is to create memorable experiences with our love towards the student community in the core of everything we do. We have an open recruit at the end of the year, so all cruise and student life enthusiasts will have an equal opportunity join the crew of Merikerho!
